An author has left one of the fandoms I am involved in. She had written some of the most profound and stunningly beautiful pieces that exist in this particular fandom, and her departure leaves a huge hole (IMO

I hate when people leave fandom and take down their stories. :( I absolutely understand why people feel the need to do so, and I respect their wishes particularly re: distribution, but I don't think maintaining a personal copy for your own enjoyment is wrong at all. It doesn't hurt her in any way if she doesn't know about it and the files never get out anywhere else.

Ridiculous. Yes, I wouldn't distribute them (publicly), but I wouldn't delete them as long as they give me pleasure. You can't control your thoughts once they've left your brain/your PC.
