Something unexpected happened today. We discovered an Echidna walking alongside the major road near our house. Every neighbour who passed by stopped in surprise, because none of us knew we shared our neighbourhood with the little creatures.

This is my first ever encounter. Before today, I would have told you that they didn't like in the Perth Metro area. They are gorgeous!

That's much better than the wildlife at the side of the road that we have here. Usually it's an alligator. I leave them to find their own way.

Both kids! This is G's picture from her phone. S took another when it was in the box and rolled into a ball. We were really surprised at how heavy he was...probably a good 5 lbs.

He was gorgeous! They're very soft on the underside, and very docile creatures. Come to Australia, it will improve your chances of meeting one ;)
