Wow! I wonder if you might be on to something here. These two always know how to hurt each other with their words. Both of them are sporting raw, open wounds, but deal differently. Kara will go to Sam, knowing he's safe (and to prove Lee wrong). Lee will just go into himself.

These words were beautiful and painful--But then he was used to being alone. It wasn’t so bad. It was better than this terrible jagged pressure in his chest, as if something was about to tear open and burst.
He’d just go back behind his walls. It might be lonely there, but it was safe too. Familiar. Maybe even comfortable, after a while.
He wouldn’t risk coming out again. Not for anyone.--You have nailed Lee on the head right here!

Ooh, a sequel--I can't wait!

Wonderful explanation of the rift. I can't wait to see what it really is!

I can't wait to see what it is either. I think it must be very bad though, for them not to be speaking and I also suspect whatever it is has led to Lee's weight gain and 'giving up' as much as "being a soldier needing a war".

Thanks for your kind comments.

Gods, why does she do that - give up bliss for just ok?
This definitely warrants a sequel.. maybe where Lee comes and claims what's his?????? =)

Lovely fic.

Because she's Kara and she's screwed up? :-)

Well, I think I'm going to give it a try, see what happens.

Like your suggestion, although I think it might have to be the other way round - Kara was responsible for this mess, I think she'll have to take the lead in fixing it.

ooohh.. That's a good one. Yeah, she changes her mind...I like that.

Yes, Kara is screwed up. In fact I remember reading an interview with Katee Sackhoff where she said Kara would be the cause of her own demise. I hope not soon =)

Amazing story, it nearly had me into tears - I loved the last lines (but I do hope there will be a point where she doesn't want to be free from Lee anymore, and to be honest, she won't be free. I 'm sure he's still in her mind...)

I would love to read a sequel, but then - I enjoy everything you write ;)

Aw, thank you.

And I'm just as sure as you that Lee is still on her mind, I don't think cutting him out of her life is going to be quite as easy as she thinks.

Well, that's the idea of the sequel, of which I have written a grand total of 2 paragraphs! I've got a cold and am not in a writing mood this week :(

Thank you very much! Chocolate is always good, even when it's virtual! I think I'm getting better now.

I don't know whether I reviewed this at ff.net or not, but I just re-read it and wanted to say that this is an absolutely amazing story, definitely my favourite one of yours... I love it!
It's very well written, beautiful and heartbreaking and very very plausible (especially considering what we've seen of season 3).
And those last three lines at the end... perfect kara.

What do you think? Would you be interested in reading a sequel?
I would absolutely love to read a sequel... I really hope you decide to do one!

definitely my favourite one of yours.

Really? Even with all the angst and the unhappy ending?

Thank you so much for your comments, it's very encouraging.

Well, I'm trying, but so far I've only written one chapter. It's giving me trouble!

Also I've not been feeling too well recently and haven't done a lot of writing. I'll get there with it eventually!

Absolutely... first one I read of yours, and still my fav. I think its because its so angsty and heartbreaking that it is so emotionally gripping and that's what makes my love a story.

As for the unhappy ending... well even though I AM a sucker for happy endings, if they are well written, as this one was, unhappy endings often have a much bigger emotianal impact for me.
And besides, then there are lovely authors like you who offer up sequels so we can have the best of both worlds! ;D

I've not been feeling too well recently and haven't done a lot of writing.
awww, hope you feel better soon... and take your time with the writing, I'll still be here! :)

Hello there,

I just wanted to say that I very much liked this fic. Great job.

Romantic, nice characterization, and Kara's emotions and fears are well done! I'd really like to see a sequel. (Er... Pretty please?) :-)
