Chapter Thirty-Four
Kara smiled sharply as the blips she had spotted on her dradis were confirmed as Cylons. Her last few CAPs had been dull and uneventful; it would be good to finally see a little action.
“Apollo, I have two Cylon raiders on dradis. Do you copy?”
She scanned around her as she spoke, braced for more raiders to appear, but

I'm glad of course that Lee made it back...
I was happy at Lee and Bill having a good convo... then.... Zak you doofus...
Too bad Lee can't read that Zak and Emma are like him and Kara...
Here's hoping Shevon has a REALLY SMALL cabin, Lee has a panic attack and Kara comes to rescue him..... please? :)

Well, he is a bit oblivious when it comes to these things.

LOL, just imagining that scene...!

Love this scene--and, indeed, everything related to Lee's... issues.
I think every pilot would have a hard time dealing with the fact that he lost control and had to be rescued, but out resident control freak is bound to take it even harder...
I loved his discussion with his father, as well. See, they didn't shout (even though I'm sure it must have been tempting to shake some sense into Lee).
He’d never thought Lee cared a cubit about what he thought of him.
Oh, honestly, Bill...
Men!
Well, you’ll just have to prove them wrong by beating this and getting back in that viper, won’t you?
Now, there's the Lee we all know and love. I have the feeling that your Lee is even less likely to take any crap than canon!Lee (and considering the fact that he had to deal with unwelcoming freighter crews since he was 16, that's totally explainable).
“Well, if we give ( ... )

Lee is being very stubborn in this chapter, isn't he? But like you say, being a control freak makes it even harder for him to accept what happened, poor guy. Glad you liked the father-son discussion.
See! I'm not the only one who thinks getting Lee drunk would make him unwind.
Helen, why don't you just write a fic of this scenario and get it out of your system? Go on... ;)
Was that why his father had proposed it?
I hope not (and I have the feeling he didn't...)
No, Bill didn't - that's just Lee being paranoid. He just suggested Zak take Lee out, and Zak and Emma messed it up all by themselves.
Love this--seems to be a recurring theme in Lee's life; he needs to escape, to be someone else, sometimes (away from people who know him). I wonder what that says about him...Well, I've certainly tried to make it a theme for this Lee with his backstory of running away from home - he ( ... )

Well, Kara did get him drunk in Break. He didn't talk, mind you, but she got him drunk. :D
What do you mean, obsessed?
What do you mean, one-track mind?
they unnecessarily created a source of angst/depression for Lee (Gianne) when he already had plenty of previously set-up angst from the Blackbird suicide attempt.
That, I can agree with. I liked the Gianne backstory, but they should have alluded to it earlier, to have it rear its head again at that point, or not at all. Like Lee's depression, it came out of nowhere and disappeared into nowhere after that ep...
Plus on a shallow note, Black Market has a very high standard of Lee eye candy -
Oooooh, yes.
Oh, yes.

Aie, I'm feeling sorry for both of them in this short sequence.
I could gush on and on in every chapter about your excellent dialogue and characterization. For this chapter I was thinking how Cottle is just exactly right (as well as everyone else, like usual).
I didn't know whether to laugh or sigh at Lee, Zak and Emma aboard Cloud Nine. *rolls eyes* With Kara as the queen of self-destruction on the show it's easy to forget that Lee has his own share of that quality.

I do enjoy writing Cottle. Sarcastic characters are fun.

Yes, Lee's not quite up to her standard of self-destruction, but he does his best! I think it's that his methods (depression, over-eating) are quieter and less noticeable.
