Thoughts on Battlestar Galactica

1.  WHERE IS LEE?

2.  As if I didn't dislike Sam enough, he shot Gaeta (who's one of my favourites).  At least the shooting shocked Kara back into behaving like a Kara I actually recognise and don't dislike.

3.  I am disenchanted with BSG in general.  I've never really liked the mystical/prophecy aspects of the show, or the 'how Cylon society works' ( Read more... )

6. Endemic use of the word frak in every conceivable situation, just because they can get away with it. Stupid stupid stupid. If they keep it up and also keep on with this mystical rubbish instead of having some decent sci-fi I _will_ stop watching, not matter how good you tell me it is later.

Is it rather worrying that we are discussing this programme over LJ when we sit watching it in the same room together? Neil would despair of us! LOL!

I'm with you in the "I-miss-Lee-Club". They better bring him back this week!!!

I started to like Kara again too in this episode. It almost felt like having S1 Kara back :)

I was disappointed that NO ONE called Anders up for shooting Gaeta. I mean, hello, he shot him! While the poor guy had his back to Anders! Yeah, he was really a big threat at that moment and really needed to be shot *rolls eyes* And if that isn't enough, he doesn't get the medical treatment he needs because Helo refuses to jump before the 15 hours are over *grumble grumble*

I liked the Cylon storyline in this episode. It should be interesting to see how the fleet will react if Kara & Co. return with a basestar.

And I want Lee back!!!

They better had bring him back or we'll start a petition!! LOL!

And on top of that it was a stupid thing to do in such a tense situation, it could easily have got out of control and more people got hurt. Yeah, I am definitely in the Anders dislike camp at the moment.

I still haven't watched S4; I'm waiting until I have at least half the season available before watching. Maybe sitting through it in one go will make it easier to swallow?

Still, I've been reading everything I could about the new episodes, so...

I am disenchanted with BSG in general. I've never really liked the mystical/prophecy aspects of the show, or the 'how Cylon society works' aspect - the part of the show that drew me in was 'how does human society cope with almost total destruction?'.

I've read at least three posts along the same lines on LJ, and a few comments at the Realm, just in the past few days.

Right with you there. It started in S3, and it seems to be continuing...

I also have doubts about the way the storyline seems to be progressing to human-Cylon reconciliation, because I would have a hard time finding that believable.

Oh boy. Do I have issues with this one.

Ah yes, have been meaning to read that. bop_radar has also written a post on the topic that I agree with wholeheartedly and she puts it all very well.

RDM was trying to make us like the Cylons, and I'm so far from being ready to do that.

Exactly. One of my issues is also that we've never been given the Cylon viewpoint of why they committed the genocidal attacks - there's never been any background on the reasons for their war against humanity (I think) apart from general 'humans built and enslaved us'. Not that I'm saying there is any justification for their attack, but it would help to understand it. (Plus I would be very interested to learn more about the background to the human-Cylon conflict, the first war etc - seems a missed opportunity to me - although I suppose while they were planning to make the Caprica prequel it made sense not to cover it in BSG).

Yeah, I also read bop_radar's post and agreed with pretty much everything written there.

xwacky and I had a rather long discussion about the reasons behind the two wars and Cylons and RDM, here.

I'm too lazy to re-write it, but, yeah. Yet another thing that I would have liked to see, instead of Leoben talking about destinies and Kara buying into it...

I was wondering the same thing about Lee.

This episode actually made me happier than previous episodes. I felt like in some of the previous episodes I barely recognized the characters. This episode felt more familiar to me.

I'm still trying to figure out the whole mystical/prophecy thing myself. It's intriguing to me still, so I think I will wait to the end to judge my feelings about it. I guess at this point I'm still hoping it will pay off.
