(I'm just recording this to remember the day he said it.) Fr. Victor is a man of extreme patience but today, just before he was about to serve communion to the first communicant in line, right in the middle of Liturgy, he said publicly in a loud voice to the congregation, with a little annoyance, "Excuse me for a second. Our priest must guide us and sometimes it takes an admonition of love to do so.

Fr. Victor has only been there not even two years yet and apparently the priest before him was very lax on things like that.

There is a mix of Orthodox at St. Stephen's so there is a wide variety. Some people kneel during the "We Praise Thee" and some sit during some parts of the Liturgy, none of which bothers Fr. Victor but he really dislikes the sitting at inappropriate times. He wants to get rid of the pews but knows it will be controversial and so he is taking it slowly. At the end of one Liturgy he made the announcement that people should stand and said it like this, "You should be standing. The acolytes stand the choir stands the priest stands and so can you."

On Pentecost we are having "Kneeling Vespers" after Liturgy. Do you know what that is?

Kneeling Vespers are great. Hard on the ol' knees, though...everyone kneels for the entire thing. I'm directing the choir next week, too (eep!)!

Anyway, good for Fr. Victor. I think it's good that he said what he said.:)

I was wondering about your countdown, too. Have you said earlier what it's about, or is it something private?
