"Disney thinks there are a number of opportunities for the stories and Marvel characters to exist on Disney platforms . . . [and] number of places to the use the Marvel characters to grow their theme park business to better entertain people."
So I guess that's why? :o Really, it all boils down to money.
I honestly didn't believe my sister when she told me. I demanded links as proof and got two, so I guuuuess it's not. D: Though this would be a pretty awesome April Fool's joke.
...Man, I always forget Howard the Duck is Marvel. I always think it's from a smaller company like Vertigo or something (though I knew it wasn't from Vertigo, that's just the first one to pop to mind).
MAYBE THAT'S WHY THEY BOUGHT IT Disney hated Howard the Duck when it first came out. Pffft this is all so silly.
I always forget which characters belong to what company, as I don't concern myself too much with that. (I seriously had to wiki the X-Men before posting that to make sure they were Marvel. /FAIL)
I'm personally more curious as to what all they're going to do with Marvel than afraid of how it might effect things... It just seems very unexpected, no?
I MIX IT UP SOMETIMES TOO but I generally know where the main ones are from. Like Spider-Man = Marvel and Wonder Woman = DC and stuff like that. But don't ask me where Thor belongs because I so don't know. (Well okay I think Marvel BUT I ONLY KNOW THAT BECAUSE THERE'S A MOVIE COMING OUT ABOUT HIM. I kept thinking he was DC for the longest time. D:)
Yeah...like, WHY MARVEL of all things? (Oh and um, doesn't Spider-Man show up at Universal Studios theme park sometimes? D: Will Marvel characters only be at the Disney theme parks now? God it's so confusing how it all works now.) There's obviously no reason for them to fuss with Marvel comics or cartoons or tamper with the movies too much. So what else do they want with them?

Will they do crazy crossovers though? Oh geez, that would break my brain so much. I wonder if Deadpool has anything to say about this?

... but now I'm imagining a Disney movie with singing X-Men and am thoroughly amused. ♦
Personally, I'd love to see this guy face off against Donald Duck.
