man, Im at 23.3... but thats not really fair... for a 5'10'' person to be in the 20.0 range, I have to weigh 145. Theres no way I can possibly lose another 20 pounds, so I guess Ill never be attractive... I wonder though what the ideal BMI is for guys... youd think it would be a little bit higher than 20, dont you? BMI doesnt really distinguish between muscle mass and fat, and guys with a fair amount of muscle are typically described as being more physically attractive... So a guy who is 5'10'' with a pretty decent build and who weighs 170 because he has something like 10-20 pounds of muscle mass has a BMI of around 23 or 24... I dont think BMI really works for guys... or at least a the BMI at 20. Thats an interesting idea about female attractiveness though.
yeah, i'm fairly certain ideal BMI for guys is higher, 24 or something like that, or at least that's what i remember learning back in the day. but that was awhile ago and also, i don't really care what a guy's BMI is if he's nice.
From the article: "In Britain, the most attractive BMI was found to be 20.85 - for both men and women. In less developed countries, it was slightly higher."
But yes, you're right. BMI doesn't really matter considering everything. I just thought that the article was interesting.
haha, yes, well i admit i didn't read the article, but i'll guarantee right now that there's speculation as to what the ideal BMI is, that article decided it was 20.85 for them, but as i said, i remember reading elsewhere that it's slighly higher. of course, that was several years ago so things may have changed. also, i probably shouldnt comment without reading, but meh. yeah i've always found BMI to be sort of intersting as well.
