AHAAHAHAHA. Better not let Takaba hear that though.
Ahhhh I was such in a roller coaster of emotions, OH MY GOD.
"I never could have done that. But Asami... How did you know?"
Asami looked at him, at this one who always felt the pain of others before he felt his own. "How could I not?"
Oh hey, TEARS.
He scowled at the smug face at his shoulder. This one was a clever one that he'd never quite pin down. But that was just one of the reasons he was so very special. He caressed the very warm shoulder under his hand.
Awwwwww.
Mikhail, while you are a bastard, you are magnificent, evil bastard.
Also I died laughing at Asami openly admitting he's the evil twin, mwhahaha.
I don't know The Eccentric Family, but I loved this! Ha! I knew there was some sort of tricksy God involved as soon as soon as the sparrow comment. I adored Asami. He really went through the wringer, but he was a stand up guy the whole time. K & S's reaction to his overt compliment was great too. <3 Warm fluffiness all around!
Thanks. :) I was trying to give it a fairy tale structure of sorts, where the hero stays true to himself despite the forces trying to change him. And I was also trying to show that because he did that, the constructs, which were intended to hurt him and so were made as like to the real as they could and still do that, the constructs were still affected by him in a positive way. I'm not sure if that came across because I was writing abruptly. And without sleep for 24 hours because of the flu LOL.
But when I've gone back and read fairy tales and folk tales, most are told in a very spare manner (unless they're turned into beautiful literary versions like Beauty by Robin McKinley or Tam Lin by Pamela Dean).
I think I needed fluffiness because I was feeling like crap.

The Eccentric Family was so beautiful, a perfect urban fantasy. I loved how all the strangeness blended in with what we normally see.

(ah, I've heard of the anime, though I've never seen it referred to by it's English title!)

I cried at that spot too. I mean, even Asami has to bend a little after all that, right?
I wasn't sure if Takaba's brand of resourcefulness was a little too much, but by this point in the fic I was too gone to care LOL.
Thanks for the lovely comment. *hugs*
