Memory loss

Hmmm, last Sunday I had a very vivid dream about my mum and was thinking about her all day Monday. Late on Monday evening, I suddenly realised what date it was and that I had totally forgotten her 6 year anniversary, which was last Saturday, the 8th September (she died on Saturday, the 8th September 2001....buried 11th September, so not a day/date ( Read more... )

I never, ever, remember important dates, and there's a bit of me that really admires people that do, and a part of me that finds it just a little bit annoying.

You're busy. New town, new job, new life, you overlooked it for a few days. And I think you are being too harsh-I can't relate to what it's like to lose someone you're that close to, but 6 years on is enough to be able to mourn without being too upset.

So, no advice, just, y'know, you're fine.

Hear hear. I'm terribly absent minded with people's birthdays and other important dates, and I always feel terribly guilty when a date slips by. But it doesn't mean that I don't care, or that it isn't important. And as matgb pointed out, you've been busybusybusy. Not with things that are necessarily more important, but with things that are just there and need dealing with.

You remember your mother all the time, not just at that one time of the year.

Well, these days I do cheat a bit: http://www.birthdayalarm.com/ as just have too many birthdays to remember! Maybe my brain is getting lazy as I no longer have to try and remember myself!

I'll be in London next weekend if you are about. Planning to head to Tarantula on the Friday night.

Unfortunately, despite seemingly everyone I know asking if I'm going, I can't make Tarantula (again), visiting Jennie. Ah well, another time.

You didn't forget as such, you just didn't realise you had remembered. I wouldn't underestimate that
