My Question for Bachelor Number One is...

With the initial meeting with Professor Walsh out of the way, I turned my eye to my other assignment: the recruitment of suitable candidates to swell the ranks of our prestigious and powerful little firm. Kore was actually pretty helpful on this front, providing me with some intel about a female student who was proficient in the magic arts who'd ( Read more... )

The lobby was deserted, except for a couple of desk clerks who were arguing about who forgot to order more receipt tape. I sat in one of the chairs by the courtesy phone and dialed the number from my machine. 323 area code... what was that? Los Angeles? What would some LA lawyer know about me?

"Hello? Lilah Morgan here..." She sounded like she was on a cell phone.

I cleared my throat, "Yeah, hi. I'm returning your call? You left a message on my machine. I'm Tucker. Wells. Tucker Wells."

(ooc done in MSN when LJ was down)

Lilah:"Yeah, Hi. I'm returning your call? You left a message on my machine. I'm Tucker. Wells. Tucker Wells."

Who did this guy think he was? James bond or something? I suppressed the urge to chuckle and instead poured myself a drink from the mini-bar.
"Ah. Tucker, thanks for calling me back so promptly. I was hoping we'd be able to meet up sometime and discuss your future. My firm is always looking for new talent, and judging by your extra-curricular activities...let's just say, I think you have a lot of untapped potential."

Lilah: Tucker sounded like he was about to shit his pants or worse. I could tell his mind was reeling, trying to process what I'd just said. Look liked I'd hit the mark with my assumptions. This was the right guy. "Tucker, there is no reason for you to be afraid. I'm not going to turn you in. Far from it. I want to unleash that power you have inside of you. Help it grow.
Wolfram and Hart is a prestigious company, and influential...in several key dimensions. I don't blame you for being suspicious or even sceptical. But I assure you, the last thing I want to do is harm you. I want to hire you...Come up to the room, or don't. I'll be here for another week or so. But I'm not going to call you again."

I put a bit of a firmer tone in at the end, let him know the offer wasn't indefinite, if he didn't bite.

Tucker: I paused and thought for a second. There was still all this energy coursing through me. If she was being straight with me, this could be my way out. If she wasn't being straight with me, I wouldn't really be that much worse ( ... )
