I don't know. I think hospital stays for all illnesses have decreased. I think the main thing is, does he have a caregiver in place at home? If he doesn't overtax himself in the next few weeks, he'll recover much more quickly.

I sometimes think some hospital stays do not help. At home you are in familiar surroundings and it doesn't smell bad.

I think I am getting over our friend sinusitis and glad it was bronchitis.

*hugs you* I hope you are feeling better soon.

Hospitals are not good places to be, besides being full of sick people who might make you sick too, they are noisy and hot. I'm sure you Dad will recover better at home.

With the spread of drug resistent infections in hospitals, not to mention the improved possibility for remote monitoring via technology, a lot of hospitals are moving to try to get people home as soon as they're stable enough to do so.

A lot of studies have shown people recover faster and with fewer complications when they're allowed to rest at home, so unless there are persisting complications from the surgery or the patient has no-one to help them while they recover/their home is not suitable, they want you out and in familiar surroundings as quick as they can.

That sounds very too fast to send someone home after surgery! Cutbacks are not good. What kind of follow up care will he have?

Poor you with the sick. Keep working on feeling better!
