What I hate about this season is that it makes comfort IMPOSSIBLE. I mean, I want to write about them realizing that they love each other and that life is good as long as they're together, but it's just not in character.
Still, I think you achieved a good balance in this--Dean's concern with his growing weariness, that slow, painful transition as he can no longer see Sam, but just his father. Which, I think is a telling thing, and a large reason why at times Dean can lack compassion for his brother.
And you do such a lovely little bit of limp in here, as well :)
AND you quote Jars of Clay FTW! \o/
Now I want to go listen to that CD very, very badly.

I've been mildly criticized for being too dark with my fic this year, and all I can say is - how can I write an S4 story and make it have a happy ending. 'Tis impossible. Oh, boys. I really hope they can make it through this and be even a fraction of who they once were, because right now they're both breakin' my heart.

I'm glad you liked this. It was tough to give the comfort I wanted yet still place the boys, especially Dean, where they needed to be for the final scene. Thanks for the feedback.
