We were supposed to go camping this weekend with Chris and Sherryl but the weather forecast was for insanely high temperatures so we decided to stick around home and take advantage of the salt water pool that they had just bought and installed at Chris' parents' house. For our second anniversary, Daryl and I decided to head back up to Harrison to finish the "Sasquatch Stomp", a set of geocaches that are hidden in Sasquatch Provincial Park. Each cache has a clue card which you need to solve a crossword puzzle which, when completed, gives the coordinates of final cache. We had found 2 before while camping with Kate ( Read more... )

So our friends Mitch and Crystal invited Daryl and me to go boating with them on Cultus Lake with our friend Cheryl (who also is their tenant). Daryl had a playoff game that morning so I rode up with Mitch, Crystal and Cheryl and Daryl joined when his game was over. So I am going camping for the next five days with two good friends so I won't be around but before we got all busy this morning, I checked up on my baby robin. He's doing fine, getting a few feathers and feeding a lot! This year we have had a bumper crop of cherries. We don't know if it's the fact that the trees haven't been pruned for two years or perhaps all the sun that we had in May and June, but nevertheless, we have a TON of cherries! We've been eating as many as we can and last night I was able to make a cherry crumb cake. Mum and I are freezing the ones ( Read more... )

About 3 week ago, we noticed that a robin had built a nest in our fuchia hanging basket right outside our front door. Despite flying away in a panic everytime we opened the front door or went near the hanging basket, she managed to lay 4 eggs. Yesterday we noticed that there were only three and we thought that perhaps an animal had eaten one.  ( Read more... )

It was quite a loud night and I was woken up at 7 by people talking on the dock by our boat. I luckily got back to sleep for another hour and we all got up at 8ish.
