Please see the incoherent worship which you recieved the first time I read this because I am no more able to put into words how great this is now. And it is great.
Thank god you've posted it so I can have it safely saved in my Memories. To allow Gollum-type fondling in future.
Thank you. And for the message of support when I was wibbling on the story--am saving it to read when I writhe in the throes of self-doubt.
Gollum-type fondling?--Yikes!
Actually Gollum is one role I wish I'd had the chance to play back in my acting days. By the time I'm able to do theater again I'll doubtless be too old for the physicality the part demands.
Thank you so much! Am having great fun writing NYC in the 80s (when I was, myself, a college student for a couple years). Thanks for the kick in the posterior toward posting (and writing more) that your challenge provided.
loved this!!!!angsanaseedFebruary 3 2011, 22:09:54 UTC
do please turn it into a longer story (if you have the time). love the characters here, and the music is a lovely lovely touch. the descriptions are great; i find myself imagining the diner and the tiny flat.
Great story! I absolutely loved your descriptions of the setting, you manage to create the atmosphere of the time and the place really convincingly.
The idea of them being musicians was great, that was something I haven't often seen in Saiyuki fics.
And I really liked the interactions between the characters, it was kind of sweet the way they kept their feelings repressed all that time, and finally confessed to each other in such a sweet (and somewhat humorous) manner.
I liked the happy end of the fic, and I hope that if you write the sequel, it will not be unhappy XD
Thank you for writing, I really enjoyed the fic :)
Thanks very much--I 'm so glad you enjoyed the setting, and this take on them. It's a time period I am very fond of, since I was about the same age as I am writing them, back then.
I am not so much writing a sequel as other background fics set in their university days. The main story that these are all prequels to is set in 2009 (and Harry and Joe are still warmly together, so there is your happy ending, writ large).

I love how you really immerse the reader in their world. And Joe and Harry are terrific.
Love it!
