Last night I was on my way out to dinner with some friends when I came across a baby bird on the sidewalk. On my walk to work this morning, I had my nose buried in the book I am currently reading (My Big Apartment by Christian Oster. It is wonderful). I had to wait at a crosswalk for the walk signal (and for traffic to let up a bit). While I was standing there, a man stepped out of the street onto the curb almost right in front of me.
