I remember this so well. We were four games behind the Rockies for the NL wildcard with five left to play. The night (or two nights?) before this particular game, the team started this major campaign to "BELIEVE", to get everyone inspired and hyped up for a very possible chance at a one game playoff against Colorado. And then... and then we dropped this game to the Marlins. Because Matt Diaz (who is awesome, ok) got picked off for the last out. AT THIRD BASE. I remember that I wasn't able to watch this game on tv, and was following it on Gameday so it was a little behind. I remember my disbelief when I realized that we lost with MattE getting picked off at third to end the game. It was heartbreaking. And then AJC just *had* to take pictures of fans leaving all of their "BELIEVE" gear behind to be picked up with the trash. Still makes me weep.
