A soft thud sounded when Bagheera fell from the tree branch, landing perfectly on his feet. He carefully set the package down, the youth couldn't tell if it was fragile or not- Nobody seemed to have the sense to label or let him know. Maybe they believed that he would be even more careful with their items if they didn't tell him? Oh well, it worked ( ... )

Aravis' glare intensified upon seeing the boy, more out of displeasure from the package's arrival than his presence. She said nothing, choosing not to associate with a peasant. Instead, she stepped back from the gate, signaling to the gatekeeper with a raise of her arm. The circlet of gold around her upper arm glinted in the sunlight; she was no servant, and he had no right to speak to her as if he knew her. The very thought made her brows slant together slightly, the familiar tinge of irritation biting at her.

The gates began to open, slowly, almost leisurely, not quickly enough for the little Tarkheena. Once they had fully opened, she stepped forward, still without a word, and held out her hands expectantly. She wanted this to be over as quickly as possible. In fact, she planned to just accept the parcel, rush into the house (leaving the servants to handle all else--not that she cared) and possibly burn it.

This was interesting. At first he thought the girl to be mute but then his keen Jade eyes caught that devine golden glint of her circlet instantly told the young Bagheera otherwise... She was looking down on him. This she-noble was just going to accept the package and let her servants deal with him like he was some kind of pest.

Bagheera wasn't going to go down without a fight, he had his pride to keep and his honour to uphold and that was something he would happily loose business over.

His pleasent smile, that was reserved for customers turned sly. It turned sly and malicious and there was a slightly angry glint to his cat like eyes. Bagheera stepped up to the girl, who had expectantly held out her hands for his package once the gates were opened. Instead of giving it to her he held fast to the package "Oh, this package is for you?" He said smoothly and hoped that would pull a voice from her.

If possible, Aravis' expression darkened further as she lowered her arms. Why did she always have to deal with the snooty ones? (Of course, hypocrisy was nothing but a word to her.) Well, the delivery boy got what she wanted. She spoke, tone regal but still undeniably young, like a child pretending to be a queen. "If it is addressed to Aravis Tarkheena of Calormen, then yes, it is mine to accept." Didn't this boy know whose land this was? There were guards not far from where she was standing, she could easily have him chased out or beaten.

In her current mood, beating him down herself didn't sound like a half bad idea, either. But, manners first, her mother had always said. She had to appear ladylike at all times, even to servants. Especially now, engaged to be married to the Grand Vizier himself. The thought made her scowl deepen behind her veil.

"I don't have time to chat with delivery boys. It would do you well to hand over that package and keep your mouth shut."
