Previous chapter The Motel
Jensen was waiting by the door, woollen hat pulled down over his head, almost meeting his eyebrows. He slouched down low, jeans tugged tight across his thighs, black shirt clinging to his broad chest and muscular biceps. ”
Jared jangled the keys at him and opened the door, pulling Jensen inside and pressing him hard against the wall. He was hot and desperate, needing something, a quick fix before everything went to hell in a hand basket.
Jensen moaned as Jared pulled the hat from his head, tugging at his shirt buttons, eager to see flesh. He pressed Jensen closer to the wall, his weight holding Jensen steady. Jensen hissed and lifted his legs, tightening them around Jared’s waist; turned on by the fact that the younger man could hold him there, only the wall and Jared’s arms for support.
Their groins met and fire sparked along Jared’s veins, he began to thrust eagerly, the burn in his arms at holding Jensen’s weight, just adding to the desire. He could feel his heart pounding, feel Jensen’s ankles tighten around his ass, pulling him ever closer so that they could rub hard against each other, panting, exchanging deep, muscular kisses.
Jared came with a moan, almost losing it, and Jensen followed him, falling limp into strong arms. Jared lowered Jensen to the floor, stripping off shirts, jeans and damp boxers, licking along Jensen’s body, tasting sweat and come on his tongue.
He got his own clothes off and pushed Jensen back, already hard again, eager to feel Jensen around him. He paused for a moment, turning back and finding the lube in his jacket pocket, oiling up his hands and cock, fingers probing Jensen’s entrance, preparing him.
Despite having come only minutes before, they didn’t last long this time. Jared was hard and fast, thrusting into Jensen as if it were the last time, as if he needed to mark him, to make him his. Jensen moaned, splattering all over Jared’s chest and neck, burying his head in Jared’s chest, whispering words that Jared could barely hear but understood all the same.
They staggered into bed, arms around each other, heads heavy on the pillow. As he drifted off to sleep, Jared realised that neither of them had said a word to the other and he smiled.
A love like theirs didn’t need words, he figured.

A cell phone buzzing, loud and insistent woke Jared from his slumber and he fumbled on the floor, picking it up and pressing it to his ear.
“Lo…”
“Jared?” Danneel’s voice, harsh and shrill, made him realise, instantly, his mistake.
Jensen’s cell, he had picked up Jensen’s cell!
“Jared?” She sounded angry, confused. Jared swallowed and handed the cell over to Jensen, who was sitting up in bed by now, his face pale in the filtered moonlight.
Jensen took it, already talking, words of comfort, reassurance. Words that Jared knew Danneel wasn’t hearing.
Jensen had told her he was shooting intense scenes. She thought Jensen was in Pittsburgh, she would soon put two and two together, Jared mused, heart pounding sickly, she was no fool.
Jensen clicked the phone shut, his face even whiter. He ran a hand down his face and stared at Jared, his eyes wide and bright.
“She knows.” His voice was soft, croaky. “She knows.”
“Jensen...” Jared reached for him, but the older man shrugged him off, shaking his head.
“Do you understand what this means? Do you? She knows about us.”
“Jensen - please - it doesn’t matter, it doesn’t.”
“Fuck Jared - this could be the end for both of us. If she decides to say something; do something, she could fuck us up, fuck our lives up.”
“It doesn’t matter - I’m tired of this - tired of hiding. I love you Jen and I want everyone to know it. I don’t care about Hollywood or anything else, I love you.”
“Jared Padalecki - so fucking innocent - it does matter, it does. I’ve worked for years to get to this point in my career and I’m not screwing it up now.”
“Your career means more to you than me?” Jared hurt all over now and he could feel tears smearing down his cheeks, dripping down his nose, his mouth trembling so hard he had to bite his lip to stop it.
“No - no Jay.” Jensen moved for the first time, lifting a hand and wiping at Jared’s face. “But - but it does mean a lot and I can’t - I can’t feel the way you do about it. My family wouldn’t accept it for a start and, I’m guessing, neither would yours.”
“What are you going to do?”
“Go back to Pittsburgh, talk to her, try and make things right with her.”
“What about us?” He wasn’t sure he wanted to know, he felt sick, his mouth dry. “What about us?”
“We will have to be more careful - maybe stop this for a while.”
“I don’t want to stop, I love you.”
“I can’t talk about this now.” Jensen shook his head. “You have to go back to Austin and I’m gonna go back to Pittsburgh. After that - we’ll see.”
Jared lay back on the bed, head spinning, tears still streaming down his cheeks. We’ll see wasn’t enough right now, but it would have to do.

Two weeks later, he is on his way back to his rented apartment after a hard days filming when the phone rang.
He wants it to be Jensen; hasn’t spoken to him since that awful night in the motel. He hopes he cleared it with Danneel, hopes that he is happier now.
“Jared?” It’s Sandy and she is sobbing again. “Now I understand, now I understand - you left me for him didn’t you? You left me for him!”
“What are you talking about?” Jared’s body is cold, shudders passing through him from his head to his feet. “I don’t understand.”
“Read your paper today Jared?” Sandy says and there is an angry click at the other end as the phone goes down.
Jared gets the cab to pull over, buying a paper from a vendor at the side of the road. He stares at it, his heart pounding, bile rising from his stomach to his lips and he wants to vomit.

Jared cannot even bring himself to read the rest; he can see Danneel’s name on the foot of the article. He pulls his cell out of his pocket and stabs the auto-dial, Jensen’s number flashing up instantly.
The phone rings and rings and rings.
But Jensen doesn’t answer.
