Generation What-The-Fuck

Yes all right. I’m starting to realise that I am not immortal as we first suspected. It appears from recent discussions that I have had with several of you that this is indeed a malady which is inflicting most, if not ALL of us. It fucking sucks.

And all because I'm trolling trish's friends... :) ayoub July 15 2003, 05:58:16 UTC
How old are you?

This pretty much sums up where I am in my life... There's no big adventure just around the corner anymore...

heheh, I'm 32, with the comfortable house, 1 kid, wife of nigh on 8 years, safe car, and few challenges outside of the corporate arena...

It's afflicting many people. I'm sure we're not alone. Accursed 30's.

That's the scary part, man .. when you've already lived enough of your life to be able to to say ... 'I'd do it differently'. When you lived long enough to have any kind of regrets at all ... yeah, we're getting up there, brother ... ::nods:: But what really freaks me out is how gradually it works .. you think you hasve eternal youth .. your whole life ahead of you ... and then one day you wake up and realize you're alrady at 1/3.

Thank God I'm a woman and can go to botox parties *pulls skin around eyes tight* See ... looks pretty good on me!!!

Hopefully I won't turn 40 twice. That would bite dead donkey nuts. Turning 19 twice I can deal with :)

maybe you need a new hobby, like homosexuality, or drug abuse.

my brother tried crack when he was 32, and he's never looked back.

What you're talking about is exactly what Mario and I have decided. I'm 41 and he's 49. We're not going to spend those hundreds of thousands of Rands on house extensions anymore, but rather go on extravagant holidays and do all the things we wanted to do. This year it's Mauritius (8 days time !!!) next year it's going to be somewhere else. Probably an upmarket game lodge where we can view game from the backs of elephants. Who knows what then...memories and fun is what life is all about...not fancy cars and big houses. We live comfortably in our small house...if we had a bigger house we would still live the same...but if we spent the money doing fun things, then we'll be LIVING life.

Nola, I know a lot of people who would be considered hugely wealthy by any standards, except I don't know not one person who is hugely wealthy and happy. The happiest person I know is my mother. She is dead broke all the time but she makes the best out of everything. She visits this one and does that with the next one and goes for walks and has a ball. She makes real friends, not strategic alliances like me. Conversely, I sit with my nice little bank account and I'm goddamned miserable!

Life isn't fair, you know? I think you and Mario have it figured out though. I really do.

P.S. : Leave your hair long. You look really foxy with it that length.
