so i started the no 'poo regimen today. i've been wanting to switch over for a while now. i was telling myself that i'd do it once the majority of my shampoo was gone. bah! i can always give it to someone else or keep it around for visitors.
(while i was looking for transparent bottles to use, i discovered an old half full bottle of kiss my face "relaxation" shower gel. it's probably 2 or 3 years old. it was very liquidy and slightly discolored. then i looked closer and noticed that there was a glob of gunk at the bottom, about 1/4 of the volume. i looked at the ingredients, and sodium lauryl sulfate is the 2nd ingredient. (!!!) ok, i'm totally transitioning to something different.
so yeah, for the past few months, i've had this dandruff that didn't want to come off. (or maybe it was coming off, and my scalp was replacing it as soon as i'd step out of the shower? *shrug* it was really gross and thick and scaly. not teensy flakes like typical dandruff. giant dinner plate dandruff. so i did the no 'poo today, and looked in the mirror afterward, and there was a little bit of flakeage there, but not anywhere close to what it was like. but the thing is, my hands smell like apple cider vinegar. i'll have to make sure my hands are moisturized the night before i wash my hair. but my hair feels interesting. softer, and it was even curlier than usual while in the shower. i must have stripped a good chunk of the petroleum products or whatever it was coating my hair away.
i may switch which bottle is which. i have a 1.5 cup capacity shampoo bottle for the baking soda solution and a 2 cup bottle for the apple cider vinegar solution. i used all the baking soda solution and only half of the vinegar solution. my hair feels cleaner and softer.
i made a post in naturalliving about henna and no 'poo, and i didn't get too many useful comments. i'll probably repost in one of the henna communities or veganpeople. cause i usually use a bunch of shampoo and conditioner to get the henna particles out. i don't know, maybe with no 'poo the particles would wash out better than they would with hair that's been systematically coated with shampoo and conditioner gunk. we'll see. right? :-) i wonder if there's a community specifically for no 'pooers.
(damn, naturalliving gets so many posts! i have no idea how xemcats
keeps up with it. ho-lee mackerel.)
also, on monday,
suthrncan and molly and i went shopping, and i picked up this purple faux suede address book that is stamped with the profile of a lady's head on the front. i wanted a convenient way to record prices of foodstuffs. i've been saving reciepts for a while in an attempt to do something with excel, but i haven't done it yet. this book is the perfect size to keep in my bag at all times, and it's alphabetized! that'll cut down on flipping through to find specific categories and stuff. now i just have to... umm... personalize it. heh. it was either purple or pink... and well. i went for the less non-supercarrotesque one. heh. no offense faerycake. :-p or anyone else who likes pink or purple for that matter.
i also got a load of click-clacks. i got 2 of these sets for 10 bucks each.
