So I think I might've made a break in my dimensional equation. I'm working on....twelve dimensions, now, and it's finally allowing me to really get that correct, almost-randomized shape of the City. Well, sort of! I was into purely quantum physics until I fell through a portal into another dimension, and then suddenly it became of great interest to me. When I got back home, I worked up a theory that explained the existence of portals, even if I couldn't explain the catalysts that create them.

They work on frequencies. You have to build something that can generate enough energy to disrupt the right frequency thus opening the portal.

That does sound about right! At least for my world, and I'd assume it'd at least be similar elsewhere. It'd have to be science-ey enough to be explainable and magicky enough to be an incantation of some sort. That's how it happened to me, I read the wrong book out loud.

Maybe I'll have to test that out around here sometime. I'm considering the idea that the clock is some sort of suppressor, but it's still worth a try.

So you're fairly familiar with portals too, then, I'm guessing?
