Ok so there is a dissagreement here at work over shirt sizes (they gave us free shirts today)

Is the size XL and 1XL the same thing or are they different

what about 2XL and XXL ?

I may be dumb about this but I thought they were the same thing.

I think those indices are equivalent, but the concept of what that size really means can vary greatly between different companies :D

That kind of thing can have serious ramifications for the "big fella" clothing purchaser, as size availability and additional cost are often factors. I know at concerts, I appreciate and opt for the non-shirt souvenir (my Arcade Fire wallet, etc.) because it's really unlikely they'll have a shirt that fits me, but they might have an XS, or "emo size" as one artist at merch after the show joked.
