midnight city is one of the most satisfying things i have ever heard. incredible song, on top of being an m83 fan for 8 years. really just, just so satisfying to hear him -nail it-.

Agreed. I thought Kim & Jessie was pretty perfect, but this song is flawless

I love the song...up until the sax solo at the end...then I throw up.

I will try to listen to these albums while at work, but I find my ability to enjoy new music is slowly vanishing as my brain petrifies and I turn into a fossil.

I sort all playlists by song length. Then I can start with the short songs and get more new tracks per hour....

Excellent, excellent. You always know how to pick 'em. because you are a genius with good taste.

I have played most of this on my radio show in the past year.

The only albums I've heard on your list are the Wild Flag record (which I thought was disappointing) and the Destroyer record (which I didn't care for). Of course, this could have something to do with spending most of the year listening to classic country and catching up on missed records/bands from the late 00s because I was lost in 70s rock albums for most of '09-'10.

For the record, my favorite album of the year was probably Battles - Gloss Drop.

I liked that album a lot, too. Battles is arguably better despite losing creative members in the past year or so...

I like a lot of late 2000s albums, but my taste may be different than yours...but I do live a lot of acts with blatant classic rock influences....Ted Leo, Drive-By Truckers, Hold Steady, Titus Andronicus, Iceage, that Jersey band whose name eludes me that sings like Bruce...

I love the rap albums this year, too...
