Title: Wedding Day
Pairing: Akame
Rating: PG
Genre: Drama, Angst, Romance
Disclaimer: Please just let them own each other already. I don't.
Summary: Kame is getting married. Jin is... well, invited.
Author's Note: Time setting is 2016. Written in a rush as usual. Oh and I’m not sure if Nishikido Ryo is a bad mouth (I don’t exactly follow him) so if he’s not, my apologies. Oh, I wrote this with Crazy Love (KAT-TUN) on loop forever. Lastly, I saw a fic in
akame_ with a somewhat similar theme (I haven't read it yet) so if there are more similarities (I hope not), my apologies and they are absolutely unintentional! This
here is the fic by
fazlyn_n! By some coincidence caused by KAME-sama (lol) we both posted wedding-themed fics on the same day. Hope you like both. :D

The lip of the beer bottle rested on his own for a moment, before Akanishi Jin tipped the remaining contents into his parched mouth. His eyes were tired and dry, but he didn’t want to sleep. Well, it was already 5 in the morning, and he couldn’t sleep.
Kame was getting married that day. Jin received the invitation some months back, but had not thought about it until a week ago. He was shocked when he heard the news and he wanted to speak to Kame to confirm it, but the invitation came shortly after, and so there was no need to talk about it. Akanishi Jin was invited to Kamenashi Kazuya’s wedding.
Crumpled sheets of paper lay on the table, untouched since they had been unceremoniously, angrily even, thrown there. Jin tried to write down what he was feeling, but somehow, words were not enough this time. His feeling was too complex, subdued for too long that writing it down was impossible at this point.
Jin regretted not telling Kame that he loved him. It was as simple as that. He didn’t know when he started to have feelings for the younger man, but at some point between that fateful day when they first met as Johnny’s Jr. talents and today, Kamenashi’s wedding day, Jin fell in love.
Jin’s condo smelled of smoke. He had not stopped smoking since he took his spot beside the window, gazing out at the city lights below. The giant billboards and minute neon signs sparkled all the while, but as the night slowly turned to day, they began to pale in Jin’s eyes with the sunrise starting to bring everything to light again.
Kame was getting married to a pretty and intelligent actress of the same age, and Jin had to say Kame had good taste. He’s straight after all, Jin told himself when he first read the wedding invitation. He recalled Kame’s affectionate gestures when they were a lot younger. He would take the older man’s hands in his during certain songs in concerts, lean his head on Jin’s shoulder when they happened to sit side by side, sometimes even touch Jin on the arm randomly. Jin had always assumed them to be Kame’s attempts at romantic hints. But the youngest KAT-TUN member was at last getting married. Considering that, and looking back, the warmth he demonstrated towards Jin was probably brotherly and nothing more.

The mobile phone, almost buried under the building pile of barely written-on sheets of paper, vibrated innocuously. It was already 6 AM, and the one calling (or sending a message, Jin couldn’t care to look) was probably his best friend trying to wake him up and get him to prepare for the occasion. The soloist didn’t want to take any calls. Not even from YamaPi. Not today. Jin had put his phone on silent mode because he didn’t want to be disturbed.
From what? From the heartbreak he was slowly suffering? Jin didn’t know. He didn’t know if he wanted to go to the wedding at all. He was happy for Kame, he truly was. But for himself, he did not know what to feel. He did not know where to begin feeling the pain, where that ends and where regret begins, and where moving on comes in. But everyone was invited. Fellow Johnny’s Entertainment talents, media people, family and friends. And the press will definitely feed on the issue if Akanishi Jin didn’t show up.
“Oy Akanishi.”
Damn it, Jin thought to himself. He forgot to disable his landline’s ring and answering machine. The former KAT-TUN member closed his eyes and let his head rest against the wall as he listened to YamaPi’s painfully polite voice.
“What are you doing? Are you ready for the wedding yet?”
The idol paused. Jin could sense the hesitation in his voice.
“There’s no use sulking around, you know,” Yamashita said after a while. “You might as well go and just get it over with. It might even do you some good.”
Jin knew the “good” YamaPi was talking about had something to do with moving on. Akanishi chuckled in bitter humor, knowing full well that he was not ready to move on just yet.
“Jin… Kame invited you because he wants you to be there, because he still considers you his friend,” YamaPi began cautiously again. “Don’t be such a prick and just show up, alright, Jin?”
The NEWS leader hung up. Jin sighed, eyes still closed. He clutched the empty beer bottle in his right hand, his cigarette slowly burning away in his left. If he were to go to the wedding, he would have to stop drinking and get rid of the smell of smoke and beer. Did he want to go at all?
oOo
Jin fixed his collar in the full length mirror of his room. His shower had thankfully washed away the smell of smoke and beer and he stood admiring his suit-clad reflection. Impeccable and handsome as always. Not a trace of bitterness, as if that, too, had been washed away. Of course, it was not. It was simply kept hidden by the smile Jin was now practicing, because chances are he’d have to grin like an idiot for plenty of photographs, and naturally he had to look like he meant it.
His phone vibrated in his slacks’ pocket.
“Where the fuck are you?” came the fairly annoyed voice of Nishikido Ryo.
“I’m on my way,” Jin said as he stumbled through his own doorway. Checking his watch, he saw that it was already 7:30. The ceremony was to start at 9 AM, and the venue (Why did Kamenashi have to choose a grandiose hotel in the middle of nowhere?) was still quite a drive away.
“Get your ass here already, Akanishi,” Ryo said through gritted teeth. “Everyone’s asking for you and we don’t know what to fucking say.”
Man did Ryo curse when he was angry. Jin’s thoughts didn’t linger on his friend’s panic, though. Instead, he wondered if Kame had asked where he was yet. Jin doubted Kame would remember him at all in the hustle and bustle of the occasion. Jin drove in his typical, slapdash pace. Today was exceptionally a day to not care if he dies in traffic, for reasons he was too proud to admit to himself. Who cares what accident he caused? He didn’t want to go to this wedding in the first place.
oOo
Jin scrambled out of his car almost as if he were drunk (he wasn’t, he was sure of that), in truth just hurrying as it was already 8:35 AM. He smoothed out the front of his suit and proceeded to the lobby of the hotel. On the way, he received a text message from YamaPi telling him to come up to Room 3011 because the groom’s men were to gather there first and, somehow, Jin was one of them. Kame’s best man was Koki. Jin briefly wondered if Kame would have made him his best man today had they not grown apart through the years.
He got off the elevator and hurriedly padded down the hotel corridor, searching for the room number which seemed like a cruel joke. He ran a hand over his hair and glanced at his watch. How did just getting up to the assigned floor take ten minutes? Why are you in a hurry anyway? Jin asked himself. There was nothing to it. He was merely attending a wedding ceremony, never mind that it was Kamenashi’s. What was the rush and tension all about?
Jin finally found Room 3011 and saw that the door stood ajar. He realized that the ceremony was to begin in less than 15 minutes, and they might have already gone down to the function hall. Peering into the room, though, Jin saw Kame alone inside. He was standing in front of a mirror, nervously checking his appearance.
He’s such a girl, Jin chuckled noiselessly to himself, thinking that the ones who usually looked that anxious on their wedding day were brides and not grooms.
Kame glanced in Jin’s direction and immediately smiled. Illuminated by the sunlight that seeped through the curtains of the immaculate hotel suite, the smile seemed to be so innocent that, for a brief moment, Jin forgot all the unhappiness he was mulling over during the last few hours. The last few hours that Kamenashi was single. Jin pushed the door open and took one step. What was he even doing here?
Kame’s gaze never left Jin, inviting the older man into the room. The big smile never left his face, too. Jin told himself that Kame was probably appreciative that the former band member showed up on his wedding day, even if they had not exactly been on good terms for the past few years. Jin wished the beautiful smile meant something else, like “I’ve been waiting for you to take me away from here. I don’t want to get married.”
But of course it did not mean that. If you knew what I’m thinking, you wouldn’t be smiling like that. Perhaps Kame would be angry if he found out. Anger would be a good response, actually. It would mean he was affected. Anger was better than indifference. Or maybe you’d feel sorry for me, but not a smile like that.
Jin reminded himself, as he finally entered the room, that Kame was smiling because he was happy, because he was getting married. As Jin slowly and quite nervously came nearer, the debate of what to say to Kame ensued inside him. Part of him wanted to tell Kame what he really felt. Just for the heck of it. Even if there was no hope at all.
The rational side of his brain told him that it was pointless and he would just ruin Kame’s mood on this important day. That would be the greatest effect his feelings would make, were he to confess right now.
“I love you,” or “Congratulations on your wedding!”
Jin reached Kame’s spot in front of the mirror. The KAT-TUN leader’s smile was the widest yet, and Jin, looking into Kame’s eyes, slowly opened his mouth to speak.
oOo
~end~
Okay LOL at Room 3011 with me. xD And did Jin confess or just congratulate Kame on his wedding? I don’t know, what do you think? *shot* xD
