A blog I'm really diggin' on is Joshua Fruhlinger's highly entertaining The Comics Curmudgeon, in which he picks a funny paper strip and analyzes it in a through review. At last you know you're not alone in overthinking Snuffy Smith...
Hi, I'm some random stranger that used to write for a Richmond weekly called Punchline. I also used to write overly-analytical essays about the funnies... not to say that I'm being ripped off, but it's a funny coincidence. http://www.punchlinemag.com/ContentDisplay.php4?UID=202
When I read your journal, Mr. D, I was able to figure out you were that "Dianato guy" who was sort of semi-famous in Richmond. I even own a copy of the Jolly Mortal's Paint Scraper 7-inch.
Wow! That was named after a type of digital distortion that was used on it... I think that through the years I've met almost all 1000 people that have that!
Actually, Karen, Me and Dave have met a few brief times, mostly at social events here and there. I was also usually the guy who made stuff for him at Uptown Copy when he lived in Va. We've got a bunch of mutual friends like yourself, Mel, Tod, and even the Confederate Mack, but me n' him don't really know each other beyond the "Hey man, what's up?" level of conversation...
At my job, I also print Ben's Snakepit zine (the YAC editions) in which he sometimes appears...
In short, I know right much shit about him for somebody I really don't know that well....that's kinda weird.
