4 (peace, harmony, tranquillity and Union, Day 2 & 3)

[Kono had spent most of yesterday wandering around and gathering supplies and whatever she could improvise into weapons.  Investigating with Peter had confirmed that the worst was yet to come - whoever "they" were from the Mayor's suicide note.

She heard the engines around midnight and watched from the rubble as the trucks came to a stop.  The ( Read more... )

[Peter is still hyped-up on adrenaline. He paces the length of the basement, running a hand through his hair. That was WAY too close. He had barely managed to hold off that... monster... long enough for Kono to scramble to her feet and beat feet. He looks at his pipe, bent and scratched. He BENT the PIPE, off of some persons's SKULL. And it only made it angrier. And if he had stuck around much longer, he would probably be someone's Sloppy Joe on the pavement right now.

He looks over to Kono. She's clearly shell-shocked. He can't blame her; she was really in the thick of it there. And all the training in the world doesn't prepare you for packs of monsters. Hell, his super-hero "training" only goes over the basics....]

...So, uh... wow. Right?!

[Kono's still trying to catch her breath a bit, and she feels herself shaking just a little bit from the adrenaline crash. Nothing, absolutely nothing has ever scared her more in her entire life.]

Yeah. You ok?

[He swallows and flashes a slightly shaky grin. For both of them.]

Oh, me? I'm dandy! Heh. That thing? It's scary and all, but it doesn't even come CLOSE to my boss Jameson when he hasn't had a coffee yet and I ask him for a raise. ...Granted, he's never tried to SWALLOW me, but... that's probably more because I'm so lean and his wife Marla has him on a diet.
...Then again, I think that would make me the perfect meal for him... hmm. Now I'm confused.

[Watches him babble until he runs out of steam. She can't muster up her own returned grin, but she appreciates what he's trying to do.]

Peter, sit down already.

[Peter rubs his eyes and looks over at her.]

Up already? I didn't even have to wake you this shift.

[He squints at the bottom of the door frame, where he can see some light filtering through.]

Ugh, it's morning already? Swell. My joints feel all stiff... obviously I did not spend the night at the Radisson like I dreamed I did. I'm gonna write a bad review on the Web, TRUST ME.

[Kono huffs a small laugh.]

You clearly had better dreams than I did, brah. I'd even take a bad tourist motel right about now.

[Slowly, she pulls herself to her feet. Now that Peter's mentioned it, her own joints feel stiff and achy. She figures it's from the fight with the cannibal on Saturday more than anything.]

The sooner we go, the sooner we'll get to the Bunker Street. You know which house it is, right?

Yeah, sure, I know the way.

[He glances at the door, then back to Kono, pondering. Maybe it's best if they stay... indoors. Away from the air.

...No. They can't survive down here. There's no food, no water... they need supplies. Besides, there's a chance they can still get through this. ...Right? He decides to stop thinking, which is easier than the alternative.]

[Kono picks up the pipe from the floor. They'd managed to wipe off most of the gore, but it's still stained and rusted, so it's fairly lethal looking.

To be perfectly honest, she's scared of what they're going to find once they venture out. Things seem to get worse and worse each day. What if everyone else was a cannibal now? What if there were now worse things than the cannibals? More than anything Kono wants to be home, where she can sit in her office alone or catch a wave or two after a bad day. Here, she doesn't think she's going to get that kind of relief.

However, now is not the time to wallow. Taking a deep breath, she nods to Peter.]

Lead the way then. I'll cover you.

... I don't know how I missed this, but backtag? =D / B luxury_banana December 6 2011, 02:35:04 UTC
[Kono, while braving through the cannibals, might see her "husband" hiding behind in the darkness of an alleyway. He's trying not to be noticed, but at this point, it's futile. He's clutching at what's left of his shoulders waiting to finally pass away now. Up until now, this is probably the least painful way he died.]

[Kono catches sight of him out of the corner of her eyes, then does a double take to confirm that yes, it is Fassad. He looks horrible, bloody and barely holding on.

She just can't leave him like that.

Watching to make sure that she's not being followed by cannibals, Kono makes her way into the alley and crouches down next to her hoax husband.]

Fassad? What happened? [She can guess, but still isn't sure what else to say.]

[Oh, if it isn't his hoax wife. He looks over at the approaching woman and almost gives a laugh. To think that somebody has to watch his undignified passing. He reveals to Kono his wound on his shoulder... although, it's safer to call it a gaping hole now.

There are more wounds all over his body, but that was the most visible.]

A death with less wounds takes more time. But I would not let those filthy creatures have another bite.

[Kono lets out a soft gasp when she gets a good look at his shoulder - it's worse than she'd thought. Part of her wants to yell at him, insist that they can find him some medical help, don't give up like this dammit what kind of man are you?

But she bites her tongue. He's right. The world as they've known it in Mayfield has been destroyed. Fassad's wounds are too great for him to survive. Kono doesn't like it, but he's right. She takes a deep breath.]

Well, at least there's that. Damn cannibals, right?
