We have large Huntsman spiders regularly visiting our house, and even though I'd never kill them, I don't particularly like the thought of them being inside. That's where our Bug Catcher comes in handy. But you have to be quick, because they can suddenly leap off the wall backwards right at you!
Yes Gaye! That's the size of the things, but ours are more shiny and less, furry looking. I'm still shuddering! I did watch one the other day, it was half in and half out of a gap in some steps. I was after a fly which landed close to the spider. The spider darted forwards and got it in flash. I assume mine are those outdoor hunter type spiders that come indoors when the weather gets cold and wet. That's about the best thing about the UK actually, we don't have any poisenous creatures (except the shy adder). When I lived in the States, I once found some jumping spiders in a cupboard, closed the door and never used it again for twelve months! I don't know how you manage in Oz, there are so many terrifyingly poisenous things there.
Scuttling, scurrying, spitting, snarling, leaping spiders! I've got to go to bed and try to sleep now! Leaping backwards off the wall towards you! Oh dearie, dearie me.
Can't you get Geoffrey to eat the spiders? When she was younger, Maddie would chase and eat spiders for sport. The crunching noises made me feel quite ill, but at least it got rid of them. She stopped doing it a few years ago and Harvey has always been far too dense to take the hint when I've encouraged him to step into her paws, so to speak.
LOL. If I could just teach him to scale the wall.... He doesn't see them unless they run across the floor, then he is more curious than anything. He only makes the effort to hunt stuff he can eat later. :(
