Argh, sorry to hear about your mum's tribulations. Great news about the job, though. it's the best thing you ever did! So how was Xmas? Did the child get everything she wanted? And did you?
Well, mum gave me three thermal vests! LOL. Brother sent me a small ceramic eagle. Daughter gave me a silver locket inscribed 'I Love You' Awww! Bless her heart. Daughter got lots of good stuff - PS2 and eye toy - I have been playing wishy washy till my arms are dropping off! a bike, books, music cds, red plaid pyjamas, lava lamp - on and on! she is happy. Plus it was her birthday yesterday, I got her a camara phone, she is thrilled to bits with it. I don't agree with them for children because of the fears of brain tumours, but I finally had to get one. She will change school this time and will need it.
Happy New Year to you and yours! Mum is coming home today so I will be back at her place for the forseeable future, it might be a while before I get a respite again.
Good to see you're still with us! I was starting to wonder!
Not to sound too tin-foil-hatty, but I agree about the mobile phone thing. We keep ours turned off a lot of the time, especially if we are just sitting at home. Mine isn't so bad, but his service provider is sketchy, and it causes a lot of disturbance when it tries to find its lost signal. (er, something I have tested by holding it up against other objects in the apt which are affected by it, like the TV, or the radio. Nothing scientific, but it was enough for us to turn it off. hah.)
I think the camera phones are fun, though, and the phone itself is so useful. :)
Sorry to read about your Mum's accident and subsequent illness. Hope everything turns out okay.
The news about the tsunamis is overwhelming. Where do they start - so much to clean up. So many dead, injured and homeless. A very depressing end to 2004.
