At least she won't be wasted by a culture of apathy.
Absolutely. That's why I am so pleased about the secondary school we're using. Results-wise, it's up there with the best in the country, and Ofsted were really impressed with the kids' attitudes to learning when they visited last year.
So El's tests of last winter must have been CATs. I didn't know what they were called, shame on me! ;-) She's doing very well, though, in all her core subjects.
It becomes the prime motivator doesn't it? To get your kids into a decent school, one that you can have confidence in to do the best for the child. It just goes to show how little confidence we have in just allowing them to be placed in any school. By rights, all schools should be good enough, but we know they are not all good and some of them are downright frightening. Our kids are lucky in that we, as parents, realise this and plan in advance. They all deserve the best chance and I'm glad that ours have got their chance to develop.
