Or really old dead people. Like if we dropped him at the tomb of the unknown soldier, would he SOLVE THAT MYSTERY?

He might! He tends to not see those that passed on in peace, or were completely innocent in life. (Read: children and babies that have died, and people that perished from old age.) He doesn't know why that is (yet), but he's thankful for it; imagine how depressing it'd be to see a dead toddler ghost. :( BUT. Even those have exceptions, as they might be sticking around for the fabled Unfinished Business and are waiting for a guy like Ramon to happen along and help a brother out.
Also, even those that have left the physical realm completely might still be able to be summoned up by Ramon if he goes to their grave/place of death/remains, asks nicely and has the right focus, but that's not anywhere near within his range of abilities right now, and is risky business either way.

Hahahaha I can see him trying and it is hilarious and VERY MEAN.

Basically, when she sees the ghosts, they're as they were when they were living. They talk (mostly about themselves, because they tend to get a bit self-centered), she can touch them (but no one else can)- all in all they're much less horror-movie. Bridgette has never tried closing doors or windows to keep ghosts away; I see no reason why that wouldn't work.
I figure our pups look at the same thing from different angles due to genetic/cultural/mystical/whatever differences.
Anyway, that's my take on things. :) Thoughts/comments/suggestions?

I think it could be easily explained the reasons why they see the dead differently is all from a means of perspective, like you said. Such as, Bridgette sees them in a non-scary light because her abilities are perceived/drawn from a more optimistic, or 'good', school of medium mysticism. Ramon's might just be a darker brand. Something that could even boil down to how both of them see death in and of itself, or even the kind of ghosts they see. (Read: she sees a different kind of manifestation than he does; she only sees choice ones that are presenting themselves to her for a reason. Or something.) Dunno, it's something that can be tossed around, obvs. :3
There's also the means of how they got their psychic sight? Dunno if your pup has a specific reason for how she does it, assuming it's not 'she was just born that way', but that's always a possibility. But that's ( ... )

I like the idea that that they have different perspectives on the afterlife, or perhaps slightly different variations on the same ability - Ramon sees ghosts in their decomposing state and catch them unawares, but for the most part ghosts have to consciously choose to appear to Bridge or send her dreams.
Also, one of the reasons for why Bridge hasn't been inundated with Captain Trips victims is because her dead parents are putting in some ghostly overtime to steer ghosts away from their daughters. Perhaps Bridge always had the possibility to see spirits the way Ramon sees them (especially after the flu) but that's the reason it hasn't activated yet? Just another idea to toss out there. (Because we need MORE of those, obviously. :) )
As for how Bridge got it, canon says it was simply her being the child of a powerful medium/psychic. The women in her family have always been touched by the supernatural. Nothing fancier than that.
