It's hard to deal with relationships of any sort that have ended. When it's someone we value and we don't understand their reasons for distancing themselves we often question ourselves as to what we did wrong...and it may have been nothing at all. We may just been incompatible at some very basic level and were not willing to admit it. No amount of working through or getting involved would change that.
But yes, I often get into the same "mood" as you are in now and become exceedingly grateful for the friends present in my life. :)
Relationships both the continuing ones and ones which have ended can be hard to understand or deal with. Sometimes it's just wrong time wrong place, or life that gets in the way leaving no room to spend time on a relationship and it dies.I think as we age we tend to reflect on the past including ended relationships.
I'm thankful for having good relationships with family and friends. I am definitely the glue in my family and with friends it's a 50/50 input with most but I have to admit that I'm not as conscientious about keeping in touch with some and it's down to a Christmas letter. You've made me think and I will be phoning a couple of friends for a long overdue chat. Thank you, Suzan (hugs).
Liked this post, and thinking about it now...I cannot understand how some people suddenly end relationships, and usually go all out to do my best to continue them...we may lose touch, but I can't lose a friendship totally...
I am trying to be more discriminating in my friendships.....I tend to have blind spots and not see when people are taking advantage of me. I think they are my friend when in reality they are not giving anything in return....just using up my resources and energy.
