Started and finished my 1610s wool doublet! Finally! After 3 years of the fabric sitting in my stash! I'm quite happy with how it turned out.

YOur new jacket looks nice.
The buttons on Andy;s waistcoat should be fast and easy -- they should be corded so all you have to do is mark where the buttons go, poke holes with an awl on those spots, stick the button shanks through the holes, and thread a linen tape through the shanks. Sew the tape down (at least at the ends, better to quickly whip it the whole lenght). Easier and faster than sewing each button on, the buttons sit and stay in place better, and it's a period technique.
Whatcha making for July 3? We still haven't decided if we can make it. Got a friend's birthday party that weekend, and every weekend prior to then is booked. Staying in the 1820s house would be fun, though....

Thanks, Barbee! I did the buttons that way on Andy's silk waistcoat, and was planning to do them that way on this one too. Definitely the easiest way!

I really hope you come for July 3rd! Especially since I missed you at May Day the the other weekend. The extra hand you gave last year helped our staff out immensely. We've felt so stretched lately that anyone, *especially* people who can interpret well, is very very helpful!

I don't know if I'm going to make anything new for July 3rd. I might wear the dress I make for Genesee. We'll see!
