today was fun. colin and i went downtown~ we first went to the emp. hahah we even got to perform in front of 10,000 people! after the emp we went to gameworks. but on the way to gameworks we ran into like 50 naked bicyclists. colin was very confused and asked why they were like that. i just said, "welcome to seattle!" haha i wonder if he has ever ( Read more... )

Even though I think modern Europe is defective (and that's after three vacations there), I have to admit that their take on drinking is much more advanced and nuanced than ours. In Europe you are gradually brought into drinking, and in places like Italy keeping your cool while drunk is a major part of the etiquette there (they are also genetically the best drinkers in the world... Sociobiology at work). It's important not to idealize their drinking habits, because alchohol itself will leave plenty of people as fools, but there's something to them.

The sad thing about Europe is that if demographic rates go unchecked, you may as well call it Eurabia. Then I think their drinking habits will be slightly different...
