I want to share the feelings that those roaring crowds on TV have, the feelings of jubilation, relief, and satisfaction.  But I can't.  I feel really, really uneasy about it.

After 9/11, I wanted his blood.  After all those other spin-off atrocities within these past ten years, I kept thinking time and time again, why isn't this fucker dead yet?  So

Having him captured and humiliated the way Hussein was would have been sweet I agree but it'd have also been super tough to pull off. What if he'd been rescued somehow? I'd have liked to have seen him publicly shamed but I'm grateful for what we got: One bad guy dead.

Don't worry, I think there are more people who feel the same way about Osama's death as you do than you might think by watching the news. The news corporations are going to have a patriotic bent, so they're going to want to make their viewers see and feel victory, not just have another "hey, political things happened, can I go to work now" reaction. And with that comes footage of the type of people who, like their medeival counterparts, would gladly go to a hanging with a collection of rotten vegetables to throw at the victim(s) and a sandwich for themselves.

Any level-headed critically thinking person is likely to have the same reaction you do. So if anyone gives you shit about it, just remember that they're the dumb ones, not you.

Hi Em! We're doing pretty great... Rex just turned one and is running around the house, eating things he's not supposed to (like styrofoam, gah!), and being sweet. We're all pretty busy and all that good stuff. Reminds me, I am overdue for a post. :) How are you? How's life up north??
