I gotta know when to (not) throw in my two cents. My two cents here is worth less than two yens, after all. Have you ever held a one-yen coin? They flimsy as hell! They can barely gather dirt or grime, there's so little weight to them, financial or physical ( Read more... )

nuttin'! you need at least nine others to get anything, I think.

although the bike shop near my apartment has a secret monthly CRAZY SALE DAY when you can buy one used bike and a second for only a yen.

seems somewhat true. though I make my rounds about the city, I've only come across a handful of secondhand/used items shops that were open, and they were usually pretty paltry. used clothing stores I've only really seen downtown, and it seemed like they were all culled from American used-clothing shops and brought over here. (like "Great American Sweater" or other JCPenney brand stizz)

but it's all aside from records (of course!) and bikes, which are recycled like anything.
