i believe the egg could be more of a creationist argument. if we believe the theory of evolution stating that we evolved over billions of years from single-celled creatures, initially we split into two of ourselves in order to reproduce. it seems to me that over time we developed the smaller and more compact dna filled 'egg' to help us continue to grow and thrive and produce progeny more expeditiously. wouldn't it make more sense for the 'chicken' to have shown up long before the 'egg', evolutionarily?

Are you using 'chicken' in a much broader sense than I am? I'm unaware of any species from the bird class that give live birth.
