It pains me to say, but I was kinda bored with Book 6. I've read it three times now. The first time, I didn't enjoy it that much. After I re-read it (soon after reading Deathly Hallows), I liked it a lot better. I think I understood 6 as kind of a pre-cursor to 7. So why, knowing that, don't I like it now ( Read more... )

Something that was a bit surprising to me was towards the end, where we see Umbridge again after a few chapters' absence in the hospital wing. After everything at the Ministry, Sirius's death, Voldemort's public return, being reminded of her again is a bit weird. I seem to like Harry more this time around than I did as a younger reader. When I was younger, I for some reason thought Harry was kind of dumb and helpless, always lucking out in bad situations. But here, he was completely alone in the graveyard with Voldemort. He was alone in the maze, even with Moody-Crouch blasting obstacles out of his way. He ( Read more... )

Two nights ago I finished Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it all over again.
