That just seems so tacky and unprofessional. Its one thing when you a normal guy posts stuff like this in your blog. But when a professional martial artist decides to posts your blog just to make him self feel better and prove some kind of point to himself. Its just sad. Not only is it the basic of, "look everyone at how right I am and how stupid this person is" its "I'm posting this and his information so you can go see for your self and tell him how he is wrong for me" and that is just cowardly. That really strikes me as inviting other people to fight for you. Something like this is really a personal argument between the two of you. You have the right discuss is with friends (which is what you are doing with your blog) never did you post links and say things that sounded like "here is the link see what s silly fool he is for yourself"

I'm rather perturbed and I have very little martial arts training, but I'm sure my former sensei would probably agree.

The Subject like is highly disrespectful as well.

You do not seem to understand the mistakes you have made. You approach an established martial arts teacher, with a public school, and ask to "push hands" with him? Perhaps you know nothing about the culture of Chinese martial arts, but this is a challenge. You are putting yourself, an admitted beginner, on the same level as a public teacher and suggesting that you can teach him something about the martial arts ( ... )

What I find most amusing about this whole thing is that even though the initial communication may have been semi-disrespectful in its insinuations, a supposed martial master who claims to be searching for the inner-spirit of the arts is very quick to respond in ire; he does not attempt to see through what could be construed as the childish antics of a fan (I mean, what would happen if the sender of those E-mails were a minor or worse still, a minor and potential student?) nor does he adopt the utilitarian pose of many who find themselves in the way of fame and learn to just write-off someone whom he implies may be a "disturbed" fan. Instead, he begins speaking of formal challenges, and perhaps engaging in intimidation tactics. Had he been dealing with a truly "disturbed" individual, this might be all the impetus said person would need to do something regrettable. Further, this seems like no appropriate response to an E-mail which was not overtly threatening (being uninvolved in the martial arts myself, I decided to look up what the ( ... )

firstly, let me explain the concept of push hands. push hands has nothing to do with challenging another person. never was it meant to be any sort of challenge. i have never come across a single tai chi master or student who has looked on push hands as a challenging action. it is a peaceful routine to gauge skill, understanding, and to learn about how yours and the other person's body moves. i seriously have no idea where this whole challenge thing came up. this is a practice that has been done in all 5 styles of tai chi. i have no idea where you got your ideas from about this ( ... )

I think that this whole argument is completely childish and shows a blatant disrespect for the name of martial arts. I learned from my BASIC training that aggravating a conflict can lead to war, and I practice respecting my fellow pupils on a day to day basis. 'Master' was once a term used to describe only the most mature and learned artist. According to this obvious idea, neither of the people involved in this argument are masters. Now, interestingly enough, one of these people have admitted to still being a student, and thus can only admit his mistakes and learn from this experience. The other, however, a 48 year-old 'master' has dishonored himself for acting out in such a way, and should be ashamed of himself. You both have a lot to learn, and there is nothing wrong with that. On the other hand, you are both beginning to act more maturely towards one another, and that relieves me greatly. It would bring you both great honor to meet and solve this matter in person, considering that online this argument comes off as nothing ( ... )

Martial Art is not about the character of the person practicing it is simply about the practice of Martial Art. Perhaps one day when I achieve Mastery and enlightenment I may behave differently but for now what you see is what you get ( ... )
