Isley?

[Behold, a pause. For she is considering whether this is a deeply stupid question.]

[Well, may as well ask.]

Would you consider me a person?

...A person?

[ Of course you're a person, but... ]

Elaborate, Priscilla. What is your definition of person.

Well, a person. A human.

Ahh... I see.

I suppose you are, in part, yes. It's irrefutable. Why do you ask, Priscilla?

A word, when you have a moment. In person, if that's not too much trouble. It's a short walk.

My apologies for the delay in my response, Irene. I've been preoccupied.

A meeting can definitely be arranged. Did you have someplace particular in mind?

[Since they're residing in the same building and all, now. ROFL.] My room is fine.

I will be there very soon, then.

[ He's been in Dismas for a bit, but he's back in headquarters now. So, Irene, he'll come and see you. ]

Any hint as to what this is in regards to?

Isley? This is Angeal Hewley. In light of recent events, I've been told that we have something to discuss in regards to a mutual friend.

Please get back to me when you receive this.

I'm here.

[ Skeptical, but there. After all, what was this business about a mutual friend...? ]

[ ffff he didn't know what else to call it :|a ]

Zack Fair. Irene let me know that he was receiving guidance from you in regards to the unsettling dreams he has, and that I also assist in the training.

...Do you.

[ To say he is displeased would be an understatement. Despite this, he manages to maintain a cordial tone of voice. ]

Will you be working privately with him, then? Or am I to expect company whenever Zack and I get together?

[Ugh. This is just the kind of shit that you do that she hates. Intervening. Between Priscilla and Teresa. But here she is thanking you for it. How the fuck is this what's happening here?]

[So much coal. Tiny, tiny diamond. And it's painful to even say in this instance. FINE. THANK YOU.]

Thank you.

Hmm?

Irene, whatever are you thanking me for?

[ Come on. Let's hear you say it. ]

[She knew this was coming, too. At least your smugness is a constant. There's an excruciatingly long space of silence where she just kind of smiles. Considers breaking things. (You make her feel this way a lot.) And then delivers the words without the sickness they bring.]

For your careful watch during her fight with Teresa.

Ah, that. It was nothing I'm sure you wouldn't have done yourself... were you able to.

[ Tra la la~ ]

Which reminds me, Irene, my dear. If your performance the other day versus Teresa is indicative of anything, and it is, we're overdue for another round of practice. Please let me know when the most convenient time for you would be, hm?

[A long pause and then a click as she turns the Forge off.]

[...and then another click as she changes her mind and turns it on again. There's wind in the background.]

What do you do if someone betrays your trust?

[She doesn't even mean you.]

What would you recommend?

swordofthenorth January 14 2011, 23:38:56 UTC
Every situation is different, Priscilla. I can no more tell you what to do than I can recommend what course of action might be wisest to take, because I do not know the circumstances surrounding the betrayal, or what it entails... and I will not pry for details.

However, I can tell you what I have done in the past.

I have killed for lesser things. I've killed for greater. I have also spared the life of someone to double-cross me.

Ask yourself: how much does this person mean to you? Is the betrayal one that can be forgiven? If so, is it one you want to forget about, put completely behind you?

The individual whose life I spared was forgiven, but the transgression has not been forgotten. It never will be.

You can pry if you want. I don't mind either way.

What if I say... they meant more to me than almost anyone, and if they didn't... if they didn't, it would be easier to forgive.

I wonder if that's really fair.

[...]

Who was it?

Perhaps ask yourself what you might have done in their position, then. Why they might have done what they did.

[ Really? Did he just say that? ]

It was Zack.

[ ...So it was. Hmm. ]
