Too many people, including some who really should know better, have the mental block of, 'if its not obviously broken, infected, or bleeding then the pain can't really be that bad. Good job getting the reality without going to far into self-pity.
Some spelling and grammar issues to resolve if you ever get the chance. While not huge they do detract from the reading experience.
