Yea, hopping a state or two requires a pretty serious leap out into the unknown. It might be time to assert yourself (no fists) with the helping with logistics. Even if she is in no position to be of assistance of any kind, you kinda need to know that.
Pets are really complicated. You can't subordinate your life to them...well you can but I don't find that a great course of action BUT there is the love, the trust and the charge as their guardian.
From what you've told me, your dietary changes are the least of what you are doing. To make those changes the biggest change is always mental and you are already there. Upping the level of motion in your world is often enough, barring serious unhealthy food relationship issues.
Rock on...which sounds trite but seriously, you are on the edge of a metamorphosis and I can't wait to see the process and results.
