Occasionally I like to have my Stick of Hate (plus a few pounds) self look at the current US political climate and take notes. Here are just some...
Note for those who don't know me: I am an American citizen who votes. You know, just in case you think I'm canadian and should shut the fuck up based on that notion.

The following works like this: I ( Read more... )

- You bring firearms to a public demonstration and take issue with people saying that you should be locked up / suppressed.

You know, I actually would modify this one, were it me. One has every right to bring a firearm to a place where doing so doesn't contravene local statute. (Bar, courthouse, etc.) If one isn't brandishing, behaving irresponsibly/aggressively, etc, then you know what, go right ahead; no skin off my nose if you choose to own and/or carry a firearm openly if such is legal.

However, the second you start complaining about suppression and oppression and Hitler and gun-grabbers and whatnot when you've suddenly made a few very... "Observant" friends in dark suits and sunglasses who are seemingly very interested in your every move? Ima hit you in the head with a weighted fish if such things is physically possible, 'cause you just proved that you're incapable of "if A, then likely B".

That's a good point, but I honestly feel that civilian brandishing of firearms in public is not only backwards, but also counter-productive to just about everything sane.(And I'm for guns, to be clear-- just not at public gathers; gun shows and such excepted, of course).

But I will note this, regardless, because it's good sense, considering the current society.

I don't consider open carry to be "brandishing" as a rule. Now, waving a long gun around 'cause you can... Well yes you CAN, but you probably "shouldn't" if you know what I mean.

Depends who's got it, really. Dude just wandering around, or dude with like 4 signs referencing Hitler, etc.

Yeah, I understand that. I guess that I am more comfortable if people keep from, say, wandering around openly in the city with a shotgun. It just makes everyone nervous as guns are killing weapons, no more-- no less.

Still, intent is everything. Which is why guns shouldn't be around large public demonstrations or bars and such, simply because attitudes can change on a dime and things can get ugly very, very quickly.

Besides, anyone who thinks that by having an AR-15 at a rally is going to intimidate trained police officers and soldiers are deluded. Then again, they're trying to intimidate "godless liberals", really.

Ha! Well, The Maths are many New Chosen's strong suits, I imagine.

Hey, on a completely different note: PAX. Didn't you say something about hitting you up for lodging (or else) that weekend?

*clap clap clap*

That is a might fine list. I think you covered all the bases, but will have to ponder further to see if I can come up with anything to add.

Hmmm...perhaps something about those who are dirt poor, live in a ghetto trailer park, never got past an 8th grade edumacation, send their 6-12 kids to school hungry every day, yet still believe they have the right to tell others what to do about birth control choices?

GAH-- hate those people. And they're also the same ones who complain about welfare and free school lunches. Or vote into office those who take things like that away.

Add an asshole point if you think Reagan ordering Gorbachev to "Tear down that wall!" was the sole cause for the dissolution of the Soviet Union

That credit goes to the

*drum roll*

Afghan Mujahadeen, including Osama Bin Laden, how's that for Irony?

(The Afghan war financially crippled the U.S.S.R. Yes, we funded them in a huge way, but they were the ones fighting, scheming, plotting, drinking Afghan water and living in caves)

Yeah, really Reagan was just riding an inevitable wave to it's conclusion... Kinda like surfing and telling the water you're surfing "TAKE ME TO SHORE NOW" and then telling everyone that you got to shore because the water did what you wanted it to do.

Anyway, excellent point, sir. More reason as to why you rule. Plus, we should totally hang when I'm in Seattle for PAX.

Steve, I've been thinking of making parody videos for youtube in which I make even more absurd demands and theories about Obama's birth certificate. What say you?

You know, I really can't think of a way that one could make their positions more preposterous for the purposes of satire.

At this point, The Onion seems closer to creditable news than any other newspaper.

The Onion certainly has better geography experts than Fox News, that's for sure.
