Occasionally I like to have my Stick of Hate (plus a few pounds) self look at the current US political climate and take notes. Here are just some...
Note for those who don't know me: I am an American citizen who votes. You know, just in case you think I'm canadian and should shut the fuck up based on that notion.

The following works like this: I ( Read more... )

- You openly say that everything Chinese is inferior, and yet you still shop at Wal-Mart.

or shop at any store at all. unless you somehow made everything you own, wear, use, eat, etc.

in the above case, i think what you meant to say was: "YOU MIGHT BE A HYPOCRITE IF.."

Indeed! Hell, most things made in the USA are made from parts made in China.

I think Canada is a (somewhat) socialist nation and I think that a single-payer health system is a form of socialism too.

And these are good things!

Agreed, sir! I guess I mean "Socialist(tm)". Really, no country is fully socialist-- or fully anything for that matter-- since it takes a govt with all kinds of govt types to work.

Oh, and Single Payer is like a nice marriage of socialism and capitalism. While the government is the sole insurer, everyone has to pay a monthly rate (based on income bracket), as well as just about everything involved with healthcare being privately run. Doctors, labs, pharmacies, etc etc. I don't know about hospitals, off hand, but I know they're partially privatised here and are check by the provincial govts, etc. Also, dental here is the same as the States, but seems to cost a bit more... (well, that's here in Victoria, BC; dunno about other areas / provinces).

The great thing about Single Payer is that its socialist nature guarantees that doctors et al get paid their capitalist gains. In the States, doctors spend about half the week or so trying to wrangle different insurance companies into paying and such.

I'm very confused as to where the idea of liberal = elitist comes from. Considering the majority of the poor are probably liberal. Rich old coons are more likely to be elitist, and we all know they're conservatives.
I'm elitist because I'm that awesome.

I guess elitist is shorthand for educated holier-than-thou types who look down their educated noses at the "trash". Many people (liberal or otherwise) are guilty of this, including me when it comes to history stuff... or RPG rules systems.
