We just found out that we have to be out of our apartment by tomorrow. Legally they are required to give us 11 days after providing us with written notice. We have received no written notice whatsoever, about anything. And yet a sheriff will be at our door sometime tomorrow making sure we leave ( Read more... )

You are in an extremely rough situation, but you'll somehow make it through. You have Dan, and he seems to be making you happy. Focus on him and on how much you enjoy being around him and maybe that will make you smile...just a bit.

Thanks... yeah we're at Dan's parents' place, and we're going to look at the (hopefully) new apartment on Monday, plus we know for sure that we have a ride for the rest of our stuff... and the initial screaming and crying stage has passed, lol, so I'm a lot calmer and saner now.

We're very mad that we didn't get any notice; things could have been a lot worse had we not asked the office yesterday what was going on. We could have just had a sheriff show up at our door at 9:30 this morning and have to leave with no warning at all, heh. But we're going to be complaining, since we were owed 11 days notice and got... half a day or so. And nothing in writing. Ah well, what's done is done and now we get to move to the building we wanted to live in anyway. ;)

*Echo what Rebecca said.*

I'm glad things are getting better and that you get to move to the building that you wanted to live in anyway :) (Incidentally, Canada has sheriffs?!)

Yeah I know, sheriffs make me think of the wild west hehehe. Yeah, they're basically cops. They look like cops, but instead of the uniform saying "police" it says "sheriff". It amused me... later, at least, after everything was sorted out.

And thanks... we're not completely sure about whether we can move into that building but the super is trying his damndest, and we're meeting with him tomorrow to talk about it, so hopefully tomorrow I'll have good news lol. :)

A) You're never 'completely and utterly fucked'. You'll never go without food. You'll sleep on our floor before you sleep out in the cold. I'm not saying your situation doesn't suck. It's just important to know that the absolute worst case is NOT THAT BAD ( ... )

A) I was pissed beyond all hell, so I can only assume that you'll understand when I say that my thoughts were not exactly clear about half an hour after I was told that I had to leave my apartment the next day ( ... )
