Arts and Crafts ... and Taxes
First things first ... working for yourself and paying your own taxes sucks. It's just the huge number that you have to pay all at once that's a bit off-putting. For this year's taxes, I will be doing quarterly estimates, but for 2008, it was one lump sum. And it's a helluva lump. Not unreasonably so by any means, of course! Dilemmas
I must either work in the sun, in which case I'm warm but I can't see the laptop screen, or I must work in the shade, in which case I'm a bit chilly but I can do my work. Since the entire point of working from home is to work, I must sit in the shade, I suspect, but that doesn't prevent me from putting my legs out into the sun ( Read more... ) -

Five New Truths
1. Diesels hate the cold.
My car didn't start the first couple times. It finally did, but man, it hates the cold.
2. Brothers can be awesome.
My brother's in town. We're hanging out. We haven't killed each other. It's like we're both adults now, so we can be friends.

sailormom has gotten her eyes done, and everything is great! She's sleeping it off now. :) I got to see her eyes naked! Tee hee. -
New Contract = Shopping Trip
The paperwork for the new contract is getting signed today, and I start on Monday. I'm excited about it, as it's in my sweet spot (program management), the pay is a step up from before, and it's full-time (40 hrs/wk). I haven't worked full-time in awhile now, so that will be interesting. I'm also going to have to get more winter business casual ( Read more... )
