What's the recipe for the secret sauce?

I am a student in PSY437 and just wanted to tell you that you did a really great job lecturing today. Your explanations were very clear and made the material easy to understand and easy to see how it all fit together within this lecture and also how it realted to other material in the class. I don't know if you deisnged your slides or not, but ( Read more... )

Hooray, hooray! I am proud of you! How lucky students would be to have you as a teacher. I would have loved to have seen you lecture!

I think you deserve some mellowcreme pumpkins or cake! Every time I go to the grocery store at this time of year, I see so many things that make me think of you (and bring back memories, of course). I'm glad to hear things are going well -- I've been wondering lately how you're doing and have missed hearing all about everything you do.

Good luck discussing your master's project today!

Yay! Thanks for posting. I have been thinking about you a lot lately, too! I should post more on this thing, or just call you sometime for, like, a 15 minute chat. Surely we could chat for 15 minutes? =)

Now hold on a second. I've been lectured by you a number of times, and never once did you use slides. I feel totally jipped!

Seriously though, that's great. Congrats ;)

as I believe the diagrams would have confused you. Do not feel discouraged. I will be sure to bring some for next time.

Please do- you know how much pictures help me understand things, especially dubious theoretical concepts such as "anything in which I could possibly be schooled by eggplant-head".

Ok, seriously though, no thunder-stealing. Congrats on the recognition.

Speaking in public is hard for me too...believe me, though, the more you practice, the easier it gets. Sometimes I a yammering along, and then I think "What am I saying? I almost sound like an adult." Then I lose my place in my head and have to regroup.
Perhaps, since Duffy is hinting at it, you could do a reprise the next time we see you? I know it will not be Thanksgiving (BOO, you will miss Rush feast and we will miss you terribly!) but maybe a Christmas/New Years? I don't like going so long without seeing or talking to you. You are my only sister!
Now that I hink about it, that is probably my fault, because I lost my phone and have a new number, which I will email you.
I hope you have your jack'o'lanterns carved? We do. =)

Goodness! It's good to hear from you. I've left two messages on your phone about holiday plans and hadn't heard from you-- now it makes a little more sense. I'll send you an email, then-- and get me your contact info!
It will be a lot of fun to regroup for the holidays-- I want to be in Austin after the 25th to catch some time with you, if possible, which is part of what I was trying to reach you about-- but anyways, yes, I could certainly do a reprise-- ha ha. In fact, I could probably present the proposal for my master's project, which I hope to have done by the end of November. Woo.

I am sorry to miss the Rush feast and see all of you for Thanksgiving-- I will definitely be thinking about you guys.

No jack'o'lanterns yet. In fact, I didn't _really_ realize how fast Halloween was coming up until I noted the expiration date on my milk was 10/31/06. Fabulous. Graduate school has eaten my soul.

I'm so happy for you. You always explained things very well in all the conversations I've had with you and thought you'd make a good speaker. Sometimes, the best thing to do is to be conversational and rehearsing or notes that are TOO developed, actually can be counterintuitive!

Isn't it such a great feeling when people look up to you/compliment you like that?
