Summary: Tonks and Gokudera deal with the deaths of Yamamoto and Castiel...
Note: Gokudera may be a little ooc here, but this is the way I see him reacting to the death of someone he let close, so~
For the last day, Gokudera had been hidden away in room 203, refusing to come out. After Yamamoto admitted to giving up, he didn't want to face the swordsman anymore - he couldn't face him. He'd been trying so hard to believe that Yamamoto would pull through, that he'd survive this stupid infection, and hearing Yamamoto resign himself to his fate had completely shattered that hope. Yet another person close to him was going to die and there wasn't a thing he could do about it.
When he'd heard Yamamoto's last entry, he'd refused to believe it was real, it had to just be some stupid prank the idiot was pulling!! How many times had he replayed it though, trying to tell himself that it wasn't really the Rain Guardian's breath slowing and then stopping? He'd returned to room 204 later that evening, intent on beating some sense into the idiot, only to find Yamamoto had vanished. At first he was sure that the idiot had just gone off somewhere else, hidden as part of the stupid prank, but remembering the state the Rain Guardian had been in the last time he'd saw him, he knew that it wasn't possible for him to move.
He'd cried himself to sleep, curled around a pillow that smelled faintly of Yamamoto. When he woke with a headache that morning, he shoved the pillow away and decided that he didn't give a damn that the idiot was dead; it served him right for being such an idiot! He'd have to console Tsuna, who would probably be upset by his close friend's death, but in time they'd get over it and they'd find a new Rain Guardian. Yamamoto was replaceable.
All of that would have been just fine - he would have gotten away with shoving off the baseball player's death like that - if it didn't leave his heart feeling so damn heavy. No matter how much he tried, he could not ignore the heaviness in his heart, and telling himself that he'd just been playing along with the all of that relationship and love crap only made his heart ache more.
Swinging his legs over the side of the bed, he glanced around the room. A day ago, there had been more people in the room than there was now. Yamamoto was gone, Castiel was gone... With a sad sigh, he glanced over to Tonks's bed, his brows knitting when his eyes fell on her. Since Castiel had gone, he didn't think she'd stopped drinking. Looking at her now, made him feel somewhat guilty but he shook his head and moved past her bed, towards the bathroom.
