Is it all digital? There are some areas, mainly the face and particular parts of the background, that look like traditional paints/inks - did you scan stuff, or just custom brushes?

It’s all digital. I was using my custom brushes to get the same look I get from the gouache paintings I do in my sketchbook.

Yeah, that really works. I was messing around with custom brushes too, I have a pretty authentic 2B Pencil brush, and a fairly accurate alcohol-marker style brush too, I need to experiment more with these things, get some cool effects... oh yeah, and I need to learn how to paint too :)
