I've recently learned of the forthcoming publication of The Attenbury Emeralds by Jill Paton Walsh, and I was kind of curious as to what others thought of this.
Hmm. I've gone through serious Sayers withdrawal recently, but I really, really didn't like Welsh's continuations, personally. I'll probably borrow it from the library some time.
Well... she's not Sayers. But I shall probably end up getting the Attenbury Emeralds because I'm a Peter and Harriet junkie, and I shall probably be disappointed by it.
Just to keep opinions mixed, I liked them. Have reread parts of Thrones, Dominations, and I'd go back to it more than Whose, Bellona, or Unnatural. Presumption is a Harriet book and I like it, but it isn't Lord Peter. Gaudy Night and Have His Carcase are Harriet books, too, but she's lost a lot of her independence in Presumption. No one tells her what to do, but she has responsibilities. So she is a different person.
I like Thrones, Dominations more than Presumption. The beginning of Thrones rings very "true" to me, probably because it was mostly written by Sayers. ;)
